DMCA Policy
Last updated October 17, 2026
The Factual Library respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This DMCA and Copyright Policy describes how rights holders may report material on the Service that they believe infringes their copyright, and how we handle such reports. It applies to user-generated content hosted on the Service, including community posts, comments and embedded posts, shared code snippets and text, uploaded files, generated images and videos, showcase items, marketplace listings and notepads.
1. Reporting alleged infringement
If you are a copyright owner, or are authorized to act on behalf of one, and you believe that material on the Service infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notice through the support and report function inside your account, with the subject "DMCA Notice". To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), the notice must include:
- a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on its behalf;
- identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple works are covered by one notice, a representative list of them (for example, the original repository, article or code the shared snippet was copied from);
- identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough information for us to locate it, such as the URL of the post, profile, embed or notepad, or the in-app location of the file or generation;
- your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Please be aware that, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), a person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Consider whether the use may be authorized, for example under an open-source license or as fair use, before submitting a notice. Notices that do not substantially comply with these requirements may not be actioned.
2. Our response
On receipt of a notice that substantially complies with section 1, we will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the identified material and will make a reasonable effort to notify the user who posted it, including by forwarding a copy of the notice. We may also restrict the related post, listing, embed or showcase item pending resolution, and we may remove content that we determine infringes copyright even where no formal notice has been received.
3. Counter-notification
If you believe that material you posted was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice through the support and report function inside your account, with the subject "DMCA Notice". The counter-notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location where it appeared before removal;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original notice or their agent.
On receiving a compliant counter-notice we will forward it to the original complainant. Unless the complainant notifies us within ten (10) business days that it has filed an action seeking a court order against you, we may restore the material no sooner than ten (10) and no later than fourteen (14) business days after receipt of the counter-notice.
4. Repeat infringers
It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances, to suspend or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. We may also restrict posting, sharing and marketplace privileges for accounts that are the subject of multiple valid notices.
5. Shared code and open-source material
Users who post code snippets, configuration or other technical material are responsible for ensuring they have the right to share it, including compliance with the terms of any applicable open-source license, such as attribution requirements. The fact that material is publicly available elsewhere does not by itself mean it may be reposted. If you believe a snippet has been shared in breach of its license, you may report it using the process in section 1.
6. AI-generated content and marketplace listings
Content generated through the Service is produced at the direction of users, and users are responsible for how they use and publish it. If you believe that a generated image, video or text, or a marketplace listing, reproduces your protected work, you may report it under section 1. Listing a creation on the marketplace does not by itself transfer ownership of or grant a license to any third-party material; rights pass only under the terms selected by the seller and accepted through a completed transaction, and only to the extent the seller holds them.
7. Other intellectual property concerns
This policy addresses copyright. For concerns about trademark, privacy or other rights, or about content that you believe violates our Terms of Service, please contact us through the support and report function inside your account, with the subject "DMCA Notice" and identify the content and the right concerned.
